Talofa from Room 3. This week was Samoan language week. In room 3 we learnt how to greet in Samoan. We also had Mr Sunny visit our class. He is Samoan and showed us how to wear the lava lava. He also showed us the fan that is used to keep one cool in Samoa. We enjoyed listening to the Samoan White Sunday story.

  1. Samoa Language Week (Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa) is used to maintain and promote the language and culture of Samoa. Gagana Samoa is the second most spoken language in some cities like Auckland and Porirua, and the third most spoken language across New Zealand. Samoa Language Week celebrates the identity, language, and culture of students from Samoa and students whose families are from Samoa; supporting this group of learners to engage and achieve success and it's great to see you all celebrating!

Thankyou for sharing what you have done in this special week at PBS as it helps all New Zealanders journey towards shared cultural understandings.
